Satemwa tea estatesToday, your journey takes you from the serene landscapes of Liwonde to the lush Satemwa Tea Estates. Here, you will settle into the timeless elegance of Huntingdon House, your home for the coming 2 nights.
During the day, you can explore the picturesque tea plantations or for instance indulge in an authentic English-style high tea experience.
Day 7 - 9
Nankoma IslandAfter your breakfast your driver will meet you and transfer you to Senga Bay, Lake Malawi. Here you will have a boat transfer to Blue Zebra Island Lodge on Nankoma Island where you will spend the next 3 nights on the island. At Blue Zebravyou can enjoy strolls around the island, birdwatching, snorkeling, kayaking and boat trips.
Nankoma Island is part of the Marelli Archipelago in southern Lake Malawi, where the waters are particularly rich in brightly coloured tropical fish known as cichlids. Swimming and snorkeling with them is an amazing experience, as they flash by in iridescent shades. Incredible birdlife is also evident on the island, with species such as hornbills, kingfishers, paradise flycatchers and owls, as well as cormorants and fish eagles inhabiting the lake shore. Active travellers will enjoy the chance to kayaking around the island, take a boat trip to neighbouring islands or relax on a sundowner cruise.

What to pack

Important Luggage Note
We strongly recommend using a soft-sided duffel bag or backpack instead of a rigid suitcase. This makes transfers between lodges easier.
1. Clothing & Footwear. Pack light layers that are quick to dry.
- Safari Clothing (Crucial): pairs of light trousers or convertible pants. Use neutral colors only (khaki, tan, olive) to blend in and avoid attracting insects like tsetse flies.
- Shirts: breathable T-shirts or tops, dresses and /or skirts.
- Long-Sleeved Shirts: long-sleeved shirts for protection against sun and insects (essential for evenings and early mornings).
- Outer Layer: 1 fleece jacket or warm sweater for cool game drives / depending on season.
- Rain Gear: 1 light, waterproof/windproof jacket / depending on season.
- Swimwear: swimsuits or trunks and a light cover-up for Lake Malawi and Nankoma Island.
- Walking Shoes: sturdy, closed-toe walking shoes or light hiking boots for safaris and bushwalks.
- Casual Shoes: sandals or flip-flops for the lodges.
- Underwear & Socks: Enough for the duration of your trip.
2. Health and Protection
- Sunscreen: High-SPF sunscreen and lip balm.
- Hat & Sunglasses: Wide-brimmed hat or cap, and UV-protection sunglasses.
- Insect Repellent: High-strength insect repellent (DEET recommended) for maximum protection.
